Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s office has refuted media reports that he had called up Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Thiruvananthapuram Mayor elect V.V. Rajesh to congratulate him. According to a press release issued from the CMO on Friday afternoon, Mr. Rajesh had called the CM’s personal assistant to speak to the Chief Minister.
Since the Chief Minister was not with him at that time, the PA said that he could connect later. After that, the PA called and connected to the Chief Minister. Mr. Rajesh told the Chief Minister that he was going to be elected as the Mayor and that he would meet him in person after that. The CM responded by saying ‘Congratulations’.
“However, the news that was spread later claimed that the Chief Minister called Mr. Rajesh and congratulated him. This is contrary to the facts and creates misunderstanding,” said the release.
