The Coimbatore Corporation has made operational a single-window service centre to address employment-related issues of conservancy workers and other categories of staff.
Located at the Corporation’s commercial complex on Dr. Nanjappa Road, the centre enables workers to submit petitions and seek clarifications on matters such as ESI, EPF, UAN, insurance coverage, accident relief, pension and salary-related issues at one point.
The facility was inaugurated on Thursday by Thippampatti V. Aruchamy, chairman of the Tamil Nadu Sanitary Workers’ Welfare Board, in the presence of Mayor K. Ranganayaki and Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran. Officials said the centre would extend services to permanent and contract staff, conservancy workers, school support staff, park maintenance workers and others engaged in civic services.
Officials estimate that nearly 10,000 workers attached to the civic body could make use of the service centre. The centre will function on all working days between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., with a designated nodal officer and supporting staff to guide workers and process requests.
According to the Corporation officials, the initiative is expected to streamline grievances handling and reduce delays by limiting the need for workers to approach multiple offices for the same issue.
