G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital (GKNMH) organised a heart health awareness programme at its Integrated Outpatient (IOP) Centre in Coimbatore on Tuesday as part of World Heart Day observance.
A heart health awareness booklet, prepared for public with answers to frequently asked questions on heart health and practical advice, was launched by R. Sambasivam, chairman and senior consultant, cardiology, GKNM Hospital, in the presence of the hospital’s cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons.
The programme included an interaction between members of the public and the hospital’s heartcare team. Doctors addressed queries on maintaining heart health and preventive care.
Mahesh Mitra, head of the Department of Physiotherapy, spoke on daily exercise routines; Subramanian Gandhi, consultant, Alternative Medicine, discussed yoga, breathing exercises and mudras; and Prathiksha, chief dietician, spoke on dietary practices for heart health.
Over 150 members of the public participated in the programme, the hospital said.
