A 32-year-old youth, Senthil Murugan, was stabbed to death by a college boy, a neighbour, following a scuffle over fetching of water, in Sivakasi on Thursday.
The police said that the families, both relatives, had simmering differences over fetching water and letting sewage for long.
A quarrel on Thursday evening turned into a scuffle. The 17-year-old boy stabbed Senthil Murugan, and he was died on the spot.
The deceased was working in a bakery in Chennai and had come home on leave.
Sivakasi East Police have arrested the juvenile in conflict with law.
