Congress cadre stage demo against rechristening of MGNREGS, ‘fake National Herald Case’

Condemning the foisting of ‘fake National Herald Case’ against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and the Union Government’s decision to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as ‘Pujya Bapu Gramin Rozgar Yojana’, the Congress staged demonstration here on Thursday.

Led by Nanguneri MLA Ruby R. Manoharan, the Congress cadres staged demonstration at KTC Nagar in Palayamkottai on Thursday evening. The protestors said the BJP-led Union Government, which had failed in all fronts and hence was selling the public sector undertakings for mobilising funds, was just rechristening the successful schemes introduced by the previous United Progressive Alliance government to show as if these schemes were introduced by it.

The BJP was also covering up its failures by foisting fake cases against the Congress and its leaders by misusing the Enforcement Directorate and other agencies.

In the demonstration organised near VVD Signal in Thoothukudi, the Congress cadres led by party’s Thoothukudi city president C.S. Muralidharan raised slogans against the BJP and the ED.

“Since the ED had fabricated the case against Ms. Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Rahul Gandhi without any credible evidence, the court has thrown it away, which is a slap on the face of the BJP,” they said.

Similar agitations were organised in Tenkasi and Nagercoil also.
