Congress has become ‘tweet master party’: Haryana CM

Hitting out at the Congress, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday (February 4, 2026) termed it the “tweet master party” that was left with “no other business but to mislead people”.

The Congress survives on rhetoric and confrontation, while under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is steadily expanding its footprint, not only in Haryana but also in Punjab and West Bengal, Mr. Saini said.

“The Congress has no roadmap for development and has reduced itself to reactionary politics. Congress has been reduced merely to a ‘tweet-master party’. While the Budget was being presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, a Congress leader rushed to Twitter (renamed X) midway, claiming that Haryana got nothing. At least they should have waited for the Budget to be fully presented. There seems to be a competition within Congress about who can please Rahul Gandhi the most. The Opposition has no issues at all, they are just trying to remain visible. Without knowing about or reading the Budget, this is being done solely to spread confusion,” the BJP leader said, addressing a press conference.

Mr. Saini blamed the Congress for indulging in irresponsible, half-baked and misleading politics over the Union Budget. “The Opposition has neither read nor understood the Bdget and is opposing it merely for the sake of opposition,” he said. The Budget is comprehensive and reform-oriented for the country’s 140 crore citizens, including the 2.80 crore people of Haryana, he added. “Our opponents are making baseless allegations without even waiting for the complete presentation of the Budget,” he said.

During the Congress’s rule, Budgets were limited to a “freebies culture”, while the BJP-led government has been presenting “non-stop, development-driven Budgets”. “The Budgets presented under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government have significantly strengthened infrastructure. Today, every citizen of the country is discussing development. Even within Congress households, women are discussing how the country is progressing,” Mr. Saini said.
