The Congress and Left parties staged separate protests in Puducherry demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Thursday.
While the Congress organised the protest near the Immaculate Church, the Left parties staged a demonstration demanding Mr. Kumar’s resignation near the Civil Supplies Office at Pakkumudiyanpet. Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, Member of Parliament and PCC chief V. Vaithilingam participated in the protest organised by the Congress.
The Left parties’ protest was led by secretary of the Communist Party of India A. M. Saleem and secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) S. Ramachandran.Â
