Consumer commission imposes ₹7-lakh penalty on private hospital, surgeon for medical negligence

The Puducherry State Consumer Commission has directed a private hospital and a surgeon to pay a compensation of ₹7 lakh to a person for their negligence while treating him. 

Presided over by S. Sundaravadivelu and member S. Oumasanguery, the Commission found the complaint given by R. Srinivasan, a resident of Puducherry, against the hospital and surgeon for a botched gallbladder surgery to be true.
