The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has given the nod to conduct counselling to fill 50 seats — 23 MBBS and 27 BDS — that fell vacant due to student dropouts. Counselling will be held from December 20 to 23.
Health Minister Ma. Subramanian said all MBBS and BDS seats were filled through four rounds of counselling. However, some students had discontinued courses after joining them for various reasons.
“As a result, 23 MBBS seats — one in the government, three in private colleges and 19 under management quota — are vacant. Similarly, 27 BDS seats are vacant. This includes three in government dental colleges, 21 government quota seats in private institutions and three under management quota,” he told reporters.
Following this, the Health Secretary wrote to the MCC on December 10 seeking permission to fill the seats immediately, which they granted on December 17. Counselling to fill these seats will be held from December 20 to 23.
