CPI demands renewal of services of contract professors

The Communist Party of India has demanded renewal of services of professors appointed on contract basis in colleges run by Government Societies in the Union Territory.

Party secretary A. M. Saleem in a statement said services of professors working on contract basis in Society-run colleges were not extended after July. The professors were working on a meagre monthly salary of ₹40,000. The Chief Minister should intervene to renew their service contracts and regularise their employment, the statement said.
