Compensation for loss of samba/thaladi crops during the current season has been fixed at ₹38,900 an acre in Thanjavur district.
According to an official release, farmers who have availed the crop insurance cover for their samba/thaladi crops this season by remitting the requisite premium would get a compensation of a maximum of ₹38,900 an acre. The compensation amount would be calculated by the insurance provider based on the percentage of loss reported at the time of assessment of the damaged/withered crop.
To avail the crop insurance cover, farmers have been directed to remit ₹583.50 an acre as insurance premium on or before November 15, the release added.
