Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed senior officials of different departments to prepare a special action plan for securing allocations due to the State from the Central government.
The Chief Secretary wanted officials to take steps to ensure that the State gets maximum funds through the Centrally sponsored schemes for which the Centre has proposed allocation of ₹5 lakh crore in the budget for 2026-27. The State should get at least ₹25,000 crore under CSS as it has 15% of the country’s population, he said.
Officials should focus on getting maximum funds out of the allocations made for pharma, semi conductor manufacturing, agriculture and related sectors. Mr. Ramakrishna Rao held a meeting with special chief secretaries, principle secretaries and senior officials of different departments on Tuesday in the light of the Union Budget presented in the Parliament.
He said the officials could utilise the scope for development of temple corridor linking Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar districts. With permission granted for Mamnoor airport in Warangal, focus should be on tourism and industrial development in these districts, he said.
Officials concerned should also focus on convincing the Centre to release ₹10,000 crore dues pertaining to the current financial year. Referring to the XVI Finance Commission grants, he said funds would be sanctioned on the basis of 2011 population as also on demographic indicators, effective implementation of schemes, utilisation of funds and other factors. The Commission primarily focussed on development based indicators for sanction of funds and officials should focus on steps to secure funds allocated to the State but lying unutilised with the Centre, he said.
