The City Cyber Crime Police have registered a case against a bank contract staffer for allegedly forging documents of a genuine customer to illegally sanction a credit card to her accomplice.
Based on a complaint filed byD. Dinakar Reddy, Deputy Branch Manager of the bank, police have booked Nagamani G., along with her accomplice who benefited from the fraud. They have been charged with cheating, forgery, impersonation, and other relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act.
According to the complaint, the accused misused the documents of a female customer in November last year to obtain a credit card for her accomplice. The customer, a resident of Koramangala, had never applied for a credit card. However, the accused allegedly used her credentials, changed her address to Tannery Road, Sagayapuram, and updated the phone number to that of her accomplice before issuing the card.
The fraud went undetected for several months until June this year, when the customer attempted to check her credit card status for personal work and discovered that a card had been issued in her name. She immediately alerted the bank.
An internal inquiry later allegedly confirmed the involvement of Nagamani, following which the bank authorities approached the police.
