Delhi University suspends three law students over harassment allegations

Delhi University has suspended three students of Law Centre-II for allegedly harassing two Hindu College students in north Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, according to a notice issued by the university on Monday. 

The three, all pursuing LLB, have been identified as Naman, Abhimanyu Kumar and Abhinav Kumar. 

An FIR was registered against the three at Mukherjee Nagar police station under Sections 78, 79 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the police said.  

“On the basis of the FIR lodged by the Delhi Police regarding the incident that occurred on the evening of September 23, 2026, it is hereby notified that three students have been suspended from their courses of study with immediate effect,” the notice issued by the Proctor’s office stated. 

The action was taken under Clause 3(e) of Ordinance XV-B of the Delhi University Act, 1922, the notice stated. The three students have also been barred from entering the university premises. 

One of the two women had alleged that she and her friend were walking near Hakikat Park when a white car approached them and the men inside passed comments at them. When the women objected, the men allegedly abused and followed them, she said in a video posted on social media. 

She further alleged that when they stopped to record the incident, the men also stopped and attempted to pull them into the car. They fled after her friend began recording the vehicle, she claimed.
