Members from the Kuthoosi Gurusamy Padipagam at Venkatapuram on Monday petitioned the Coimbatore district Collector seeking closure of two Tasmac outlets at Kovilmedu on Thadagam Road.

A petition submitted by the study centre, a branch of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, stated that the two Tasmac outlets near Kovilmedu bus stop (No:1602) and another one (No: 1611) located about 50 metres away, were causing hindrances to tranquility in the area.

The public, including women, children and pedestrians, were facing a lot of inconveniences from customers who visit these liquor outlets and bars attached to them, the petitioners alleged. They also wanted the district administration to clear garbage accumulated on Kovilmedu – K.K. Pudur road.
