DGP lays emphasis on strengthening preventive policing in Tiruchi

Director-General of Police / Head of Police Force Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal on Sunday conducted a comprehensive review of the law and order and crime scenario in the central zone and emphasised on effective maintenance of law and order and strengthening preventive policing.

The review meeting held at the District Police Office here was attended by the Inspector General of Police, Central Zone; the Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi City; Deputy Inspectors-General of Police of Tiruchi and Thanjavur ranges, Superintendent of Police of Tiruchi Rural, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Karur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and Mayiladuthurai districts besides two Deputy Commissioners of Police of Tiruchi City, Assistant Superintendents of Police and Deputy Superintendents of Police.

Specific directions were issued for intensified action against history sheeters, including close monitoring their activities and cases and sustained follow-up at the police station level. Mr. Aggarwal stressed on enhancing measures for the safety and security of women and children besides senior citizens.

He inaugurated a data centre in Tiruchi district and simultaneously inaugurated similar centres across the eight districts of the zone via video conference. The data centre facilitates the police force by providing access to police station records, criminal investigation details, vehicle information, and digital police services. It enables the identification of crime trends, monitoring of habitual offenders and data driven decision making for law and order operations. 

As part of his visit to Tiruchi, the DGP conducted a grievance redress meeting during which 143 police personnel across the zone and Tiruchi city submitted their petitions. He presented rewards to 110 police personnel appreciating their dedication and contribution to effective policing, a police press release here said.
