The Department of Posts has invited entries for a national-level ‘Dhai Akhar Letter Writing Campaign 2026-27’ on the theme “A Letter to Mother Earth: My Promise to Protect Nature.”
According to a press release from K. Gopalan, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Erode Division, the campaign began on August 1 and will conclude on October 31. Letters posted after the deadline will not be accepted. The letters can be written in English, Hindi or Tamil and should be addressed to the Chief Postmaster General, Tamil Nadu Circle, Chennai – 600002.
Only handwritten letters will be accepted. Letters written on plain A4-size paper should not exceed 1,000 words, while those written on an Inland Letter Card (ILC) should be limited to 500 words. Entries on plain paper should be sent in an embossed envelope or an envelope bearing sufficient postage.
There will be separate categories for participants aged up to 18 years and those above 18 years, with inland letter and envelope categories in each age group.
At the national-level, the first, second and third prizes in each category will be ₹50,000, ₹25,000 and ₹10,000, respectively. The corresponding circle-level prizes will be ₹25,000, ₹10,000 and ₹5,000.
Participants must certify their age on the letter with a declaration stating, “I certify that I am below/above the age of 18 as on January 1, 2026.” Entries without the required declaration will be rejected. The age and identity documents of winners will be verified before the best three entries in each category are forwarded to the directorate.
