Dhinakaran not for merger of parties, but favours a front

Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran has said he is not for a merger of parties and outfits that espouse the ideals of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, but wants them to act in unison to uphold and implement her ideas.

Addressing the media in Thanjavur on Monday, the AMMK leader said that right from the beginning, he was against the idea of merging the outfits/units/parties that were working to fulfil “Amma’s (Jayalalithaa’s) vision”. “I believe Amma’s regime can be brought back only if her followers, wherever they are, come together under one umbrella,” he said.

Stating that the AMMK was floated only to uphold and achieve Amma’s vision, he added that his decisions were influenced by his party cadre.
