Dindigul Book Festival will be held from October 22 to November 1

Arrangements are under way for the Dindigul Book Festival which will be held from October 22 to November 1 on the Anguvilas Higher Secondary School grounds.

The book festival will be jointly organised by the Dindigul district administration, Directorate of Public Libraries and the Dindigul Ilakkiya Kalam. Adequate arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of the event.

According to the press release, officials have been appointed to monitor and supervise the arrangements. They have been instructed to ensure proper sanitation. Arrangements are also being made to regulate traffic around the venue and facilitate the participation of school students at the book festival during school hours.

Cultural programmes by accomplished artistes will be a highlight of the book festival. Cultural programmes featuring school children will be held on all eleven days of the book festival. Steps have also been taken to facilitate participation of college students. Transport facilities, including buses, will be arranged.

Stalls promoting millet products and products made by Women self-help groups will be set up on the book festival premises. Fire tenders and ‘108’ ambulance services with a medical team will be stationed at the venue.

Apart from the cultural programmes, seminars, world cinema screenings and lectures will be held at the venue. Dindigul Collector Durgamoorthi urged the public and students to attend the book festival and make it a grand success.

Books worth ₹3 crore were sold at the Dindigul book festival last year. A total of 126 book stalls were set up. A total of 1,02,723 people attended the book festival and 66 people donated 1,157 books. The donated books were given to government schools and libraries.
