State-level carnival

Department of Library and Information Science of V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, organised a State-level Inter-Collegiate Library Carnival ‘VASIKA VANGA 2025-2026’ to create an awareness about the effective utilisation of library resources among students. A total of 104 students from 15 colleges from Madurai, Virudhunagar, Erode, and Thoothukudi districts participated.

Speaking at the event, chief guest, S.M.S. Mythili Manickavasagam, former joint secretary, stressed the importance of libraries in shaping the academic excellence of the students.

Principal honoured the winners with the prizes. Overall winner trophy was won by Lady Doak College, Madurai.

Competition held

Sprint Fest’26 -The Inter-School and Collegiate Sports Competition of Nadar Saraswathi Educational Institutions under the Theni Melapettai Hindu Nadargal Uravinmurai (T.H.M.N.U.) was held at the Nadar Saraswathi Boys Higher Secondary School.

Speaking at the event, school president A.S.G.Dharmarajan that the explained that the sports meet provides a valuable platform for students to discover and develop their hidden talents.

Vice president A.S.Jeevagan stated that such events are not merely about victory or defeat, but about learning new strategies and enhancing knowledge.

General secretary M.M.Anandavel remarked that ‘Food itself is medicine’ and advised students to maintain good health by consuming nutritious food to keep their bodies strong and fit.

Treasurer B. Ramachandran noted that true sportsmanship lies in accepting results gracefully and continuing to strive for improvement.

Competitions were held, and prizes were distributed.

Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women (Autonomous), Periyakulam, organised its 55th Annual Sports Meet.

Speaking at the event, chief guest, M.R. Soundararajan, IPC Cycling Special World Champion and Ambassador, Indian Road Safety Organisation, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, emphasised that students must learn some self-defence acts and save themselves. Various events were conducted. Department of Commerce won the overall championship shield. Students L. Yashika and M. Rubavahini won the individual championship title with the Rolling Cup.

Alagappa College of Nursing, Karaikudi, held its 1st Graduation Ceremony and 6th Oath-Taking Ceremony. Chairman Vairavan Ramanathan presided. Chief guest was Dr. Anita Radhakrishnan (Cardiologist, USA).

The students received their coveted awards and degree certificates.

Tree saplings donated

Kodaikanal Sun Lions Club donated 100 fruit tree saplings to Mother Teresa Private School in Pambarpuram, Kodaikanal.

A total of 100 fruit tree saplings were planted along with Lions Club office bearers.

Sun Lions Club president presided. Former Lions Club president and Revenue District Environment Head (covering four districts)was the special guest.

Farm Manager of Kodaikanal International School explained the importance of tree planting and the significance of planting shade trees and fruit tree saplings in hilly areas.

Around 650 students participated in planting saplings.
