A consultative meeting to prepare a template for the overall development of towns in Virudhunagar district in the next five years was conducted under ‘My Town, My Dream’ (Vision–2030) in Virudhunagar on Tuesday.
Chaired by Virudhunagar Collector N.O. Sukhaputra, in the presence of Sivaksi Mayor I. Sangeetha, officials of various departments, experts from different fields, representatives of non-governmental organisations and industries took part in the discussions.
Though the State Government has been implementing various schemes on infrastructure development, education, women’s empowerment, it has introduced ‘My Town, My Dream’ initiative for taking the development works further in the next five years, the Collector said.
Major departments like Labour Welfare, Education, Employment, Agriculture and Health would be coordinating with other officials of departments and experts to prepare the Vision 2030 strategy and plan document with the objective of developing every town in the State, he added.
Five different teams conducted the discussion separately on development infrastructure on various aspects.
The details of the discussions would be consolidated and presented before the State Government, the Collector added.
Dean of Virudhunagar Government Medical College Jeyasingh, Project Director (Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihood Mission) Lakkuvanan, Deputy Collector, Social Security Scheme Mohana, Superintending Engineer, Tangedco, Latha, were among those who were present.
