DJB water tanker crushes bike taxi driver to death

A bike taxi driver was crushed to death by Delhi Jal Board’s water tanker truck near Kundan Nagar in east Delhi on Sunday, said a police officer.

The deceased, Jubair Ali, 26, a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, was on duty when the accident occurred.

“A police team reached the spot near Kundan Nagar red light area, where they found a person was lying crushed under the DJB water tanker,” said the officer. 

The truck driver fled the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. Efforts are under way to nab the accused, the officer said.

The DJB in an official statement said, “In police investigation if any negligence is found on part of any employee, proper action will be taken accordingly.”
