DMK flays ruling AINRC-BJP combine for recent murders in Puducherry

DMK MP S. Jagathrakshakan has criticised the ruling AINRC-BJP government for its handling of law and order situation in Puducherry.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, the MP from Tamil Nadu said two murders were reported in the region during the last few days. People were concerned about the spate in gang rivalry-related fatal assaults, he said.

Mr. Jagathrakshakan, who is DMK’s coordinator for the Union Territory, was in Puducherry to campaign for the party’s candidate, K. Sethu Selvam, in Thattanchavady bypoll. 

Stating that the Thattanchavady constituency which was long held by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy lacked proper civic amenities, the DMK MP said, “The constituency could have developed better as it was represented by Mr. Rangasamy for a long time. The open drains in the constituency point towards lack of development.”

Congress leaderless in Puducherry

The pictures of Congress workers seeking votes for its candidate in the name of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK founder C. Joseph Vijay shows the plight of that party in Puducherry, he said. 

“The DMK was the first to propose the name of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi as INDIA bloc’s Prime Ministerial candidate. But the Congress betrayed us and now see the party’s plight. It has to project Mr. Vijay as leader in Puducherry,” he said.
