Photos of former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin should be permitted to be displayed at Ward Committee meetings as per an earlier Government Order (G.O.), stated Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Standing Committee Chairman N. Chitrarasu at the General Council meeting on Wednesday (June 24, 2026). Photos of Chief Minister C. Jospeh Vijay and that of Mr. Stalin were seen placed at the council hall of the Ripon Buildings.
Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar, DMK councillors, and ward committee chairman,including those from Kodambakkam (10) and Madhavaram (3), supported the request.
Mayor R. Priya responded that since the current council, including her tenure, has eight months remaining, this can be implemented for the Ward Committee meetings.
