The Kalaburagi district unit of the Karnataka Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Advocates Awareness Association has urged lawyers not to represent a man arrested for posting derogatory content against B.R. Ambedkar and other leaders from marginalised communities on social media.
In a letter to the Kalaburagi Advocates Association, association district president Vinodkumar Kamble has said that the accused, Anand Anjanappa, a native of Bengaluru, who handles a Facebook account titled Gulamara Appa, has been arrested by the Sub-Urban Police for posting derogatory remarks against Dr. Ambedkar and the Constitution.
He said that a case was registered against the accused in the same police station last year too. He reiterated that the association is demanding that no advocate should appear on his behalf in court.
