DVAC sleuths seize ₹10,500 from fireworks worker at Special Tahsildar’s office

Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seized ₹10,500 from a worker of a fireworks unit sitting in the office of the Special Tahsildar, Matches and Fireworks, in Sivakasi on Tuesday.

The DVAC officials conducted a surprise check following complaints of collection of bribe at the Special Tahsildar’s office for renewal of licence of fireworks units.

They found in the Tahsildar’s office the application with recommendation of the Tahsildar addressed to the District Revenue Officer for renewal of licence of at particular fireworks unit.

Upon seeing the DVAC sleuths, the worker of that unit reportedly attempted to throw the cash out of the office window, according to a DVAC officer.

Further investigation is under way.
