Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice-president A.P. Abdullakutty has claimed that Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] central committee member E.P. Jayarajan was prepared to leave the CPI(M) and join the BJP.
Speaking to the media in Kannur on Tuesday, Mr. Abdullakutty said discussions had been held with Mr. Jayarajan on the matter but the party ultimately decided against admitting him.
âYou canât take everyone into the BJP,â Mr. Abdullakutty remarked.
He alleged that Mr. Jayarajanâs newly released autobiography was âa fabricated bookâ aimed at criticising CPI(M) leaders M.V. Govindan and P. Jayarajan.
Mr. Abdullakutty said that while all senior leaders were invited to the book release, both Mr. Govindan and Mr. Jayarajan were excluded.
âE.P. Jayarajan should write another book, then all stories will come out,â he added.
When contacted, Mr. Jayarajan clined to comment on the statements made by Mr. Abdullakutty. âI have some standard and it is below my dignity to reply to such absurd statement,â he added.
