The NTR Commissionerate Police, in association with the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) and the Government Railway Police (GRP), conducted searches on moving trains at Vijayawada railway station on Tuesday (February 03, 2026) to prevent ganja smuggling.
As part of the ongoing “Cycle Rally” (Drugs Pai Dandayatra), organised by the NTR Commissionerate police, raids were conducted at the platforms, ticket issuing counters, cloak room, and other places.
Earlier, the police conducted a yoga session that saw the participation of many students and various NGOs. A rally was also organised to raise public awareness about the ill effects of ganja and other drugs.
Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, EAGLE head and IGP Ake Ravi Krishna, Deputy Commissioners of Police Krishnakanth Patel, EAGLE Superintendent of Police Nagesh, DCP K.G.V. Saritha and other officers participated in the rally.
Members of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Retired Police Officers Association, Auto Unions and students peddled cycles against drug abuse.
