The Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Hyderabad zonal office, has provisionally attached 50 immovable properties worth ₹29.76 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 in connection with an alleged illegal surrogacy and child trafficking racket run by Dr Pachipalli Namratha alias Athluri Namratha, through the Universal Srusthi Fertility and Research Centre.
According to the ED, the attached assets include land parcels, flats and a hospital held in the names of Dr Namratha and her sons. While the provisional attachment value stands at ₹29.76 crore, the agency estimates the current market value of these properties to be around ₹50 crore.
