Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot said on Tuesday that nowadays there is a need to offer such an education which will aid to maintain equality and harmony in society.
He was speaking at the valedictory of the golden jubilee celebrations of Coondapur Education Society and its 50th annual day at Kundapur in Udupi district.
The Governor said that education should inculcate morality, combine modern knowledge with human values, preserve religion and culture and maintain unity and integrity of the nation.
He said with development, greater awareness should be created among the younger generation about equality, harmony and human values. Teachers and educational institutions played crucial role in it.
He said Coondapur Education Society in the last five decades has transformed education into a powerful tool for personality development, social responsibility and development of human sensibilities.
The society has opened the doors of quality education to the students of Kundapur and the surrounding rural areas, which was once a distant dream.
Kota Srinivas Poojary, MP, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru and S. L. Bhoje Gowda, MLC, B.M. Sukumar Shetty, president of the society spoke.
