An elderly man, S. Selvam of Pykara, was brutally attacked with beer bottle by two drunk men, Ajith and Suriyakumar, on Friday night.
The police said that the accused persons were consuming liquor in front of their house in Muthuramalingapuram.
Selvam and his younger brother, Sekar (58) told them that it was not appropriate to drink liquor in front of their house.
This led to a quarrel between them. Suddenly, Ajith hit Selvam with a beer bottle on his head and the other accused pushed him down.
Selvam collapsed and fell down with bleeding injuries. He was rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital by an ambulance.
After the hospital authorities alerted the police, Subramaniapuram police registered a case of assault, and criminal intimidation against the two accused.
