DMK candidate for Tiruppattur constituency K.R. Periyakaruppan criticised opposition leader and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami for claiming to be a farmer when he had declared in his election affidavit that he owned no agricultural land.
Speaking to reporters in Tiruppattur on Tuesday, Mr. Periyakaruppan said, “Mr. Palaniswami is campaigning by copying our promises. This will only result in more votes for the DMK alliance. Since Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s reputation has grown, we will win more seats this time compared to the previous election.”
Regarding the Sattankulam father-son custodial murder case, he said Mr. Stalin, who was the Leader of the Opposition at the time, stated that there was an abuse of power. That had now been proven true.
“Actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Vijay’s claim that he will visit every village to meet the people if he becomes the CM is unrealistic,” Mr. Periyakaruppan said.
“Mr. Palaniswami has stated in his nomination affidavit that he possesses no agricultural land, yet he continues to call himself a farmer. Is this fair?,” he questioned.
