Biharpolice on Friday (September 25, 2026) registered an FIR at Secretariat Police Station against Sagar Prasad, an official posted at Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), in connection with posting the photographs of Jamui molestation victim’s family on Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s official social media handle X.
Earlier, the Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav had accused the Bihar CM of revealing the identity of the victim, calling it a violation of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, by sharing the photograph of the minor girl who was molested on September 19, 2026. However, the photograph was deleted within 15 minutes after posting it.
The minor girl, along with her family members, met Mr. Choudhary at his official residence in Patna on Thursday (September 24, 2026).
Following a meeting with the victim’s family, a post was shared from Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s official X handle stating, “Met the girl from Jamui and her family at the official residence. Assured the daughter that she could move forward fearlessly and promised the family speedy justice. The family also expressed satisfaction with the police action. The strictest punishment will be ensured for all the accused within one month through a speedy trial.”
The unblurred photo of the minor girl along with her mother and family members was shared on X.
“The viral nature of the post has compromised the privacy and dignity of the minor victim and her family, creating a situation where the victim’s identity is at risk of exposure. Upon verification, it was found that Sagar Prasad, a stenographer in the CMO’s office, had uploaded the victim’s photograph to the ‘X’ platform,” police said.
Police have registered an FIR against Sagar Prasad as well as other individuals or social media users who forwarded or circulated the post.
