Fire engulf two coaches of Tatanagar-Ernakulam express train

A fire accident occurred in two coaches of Train No. 18189 Tatanagar-Ernakulam Junction Super Fast Express, in the wee hours of Monday (December 29, 2025) near Yelamanchili Railway station in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh.

According to South Central Railway officials coach number B-1 and M-2 were engulfed in fire and were badly damaged, but fortunately there were no casualties. However, unconfirmed sources say that one person was charred to death.

As per the railway officials the fire accident occurred around 1:11 a.m. in the train and noticing the fire the officials present immediately alerted the fire department. A couple of fire tenders had reached the spot immediately and were seen extinguishing the fire till the last reports had come in. But the officials also stated that there were no casualties, as per the initial reports, but both the coaches were gutted.

Senior railway officials have rushed to the spot and are monitoring the operation. Both the coaches have been separated from the train.

A senior official at the spot said that the fire was huge and further investigation is on to find out if there are any casualties and the cause of fire.
