First rural kidney transplant done in India

A successful kidney transplant surgery was performed at the Kidney Research Center and Super Speciality Hospitals in Srikakulam of Friday, by a team of doctors under the supervision of Dr. T. Ravi Raju, hospital mentor. Usually organ transplant procedures, are carried out in major cities. This is the first time in Indian that a kidney transplant has been performed in a rural speciality hospital, Dr. Ravi Raju, nephrologist and former Vice Chancellor of Dr. NTR UHS, said in a statement.
