Five persons held in two different drug cases

The North Beach Police arrested two persons for possession of narcotic substances. About 2.3 kg of OG ganja, valued at approximately ₹2 crore, along with one car, one two-wheeler, and three mobile phones, were seized.

A police team led by an Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU)Inspector, along with the Inspector of North Beach Police Station, conducted surveillance in the early hours of Monday near a tea stall on Rajaji Salai, Parry’s corner. During the operation, two persons who were standing with a car and a two-wheeler were intercepted and searched, leading to the discovery that they were in possession of OG ganja.

The two accused Ameerudeen, 36, of Seven Wells and Naveenkumar, 29, of Kaladipettai, Thiruvottiyur — were arrested. From them, 2.3 kg of OG ganja, one Innova car, one Activa two-wheeler, and three mobile phones, including an iPhone, were seized. The seized OG ganja is estimated to be worth about ₹2 crore.

Further inquiry revealed Ameerudeen is a history-sheeter of the Maduravoyal Police Station.

In a series of sustained operations by the ANIU, three persons were arrested in the Kumaran Nagar area for possessing methamphetamine narcotics using the Grindr app. The ANIU along with the Kumaran Nagar Police conducted surveillance on Monday morning near the junction of Mettupalayam Road and Govindan Road in Kumaran Nagar. Three persons who were standing suspiciously with an auto-rickshaw were questioned and searched, leading to the discovery that they were concealing methamphetamine and ganja.

Following this, the three accused Mohamed Abubakkar Siddique, 37, of Mannadi, Lokesh, 23, of West Mambalam, and Saravanan, 29, of Jafferkhanpet were arrested. From them, two grams of methamphetamine, 400 grams of ganja, three mobile phones, and an auto-rickshaw were seized. Investigation revealed that the accused were selling the narcotics through the Grindr app.
