Officials of the Food Safety department conducted surprise raids on Eat Street in Vijayawada late on Tuesday.
The teams led by Director General of DCA and Food Safety P. Arun Babu inspected the stalls and checked the quality of food items. The officials checked the quality of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, snacks, ice creams and flavoured milk displayed at Eat Street, which is also known as night food court.
The assistant food controllers, food inspectors and other staff interacted with the public and enquired about the quality of food being sold. The officials directed the stall owners to maintain hygiene and sell fresh food items. Later, they checked the samples of some dishes during the raid.
Many fast food makers, biryani points, roadside eateries, tiffin centres, snacks, soft drinks and other vendors sell different varieties of food at Eat Street from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. everyday.
