Four persons trapped inside a building housing a footwear shop in the Islampura area of Miryalaguda town in Nalgonda district were rescued after a fire broke out on the premises on Sunday (October 11).

The fire broke out in a ground-plus-two-storey building with a penthouse, where footwear was also being stored. Thick smoke and flames spread through the building, leaving the occupants on the upper floors unable to escape.

According to the District Fire Officer (DFO), Nalgonda, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The Fire Department received a distress call around 12.15 p.m., following which two fire tenders were pressed into service to contain the blaze.
