Four women were injured after a government bus rammed into a stationary autorickshaw near Gadananathi dam on Thursday.
According to police, the bus was proceeding towards Pethanpillai Kudyiruppu from Ambasamudram. While the bus was moving along the foothills of Gadananathi dam, the brake gear of the bus reportedly failed, causing the driver to lose control. The bus then rammed into a parked auto rickshaw, resulting in the accident.
In the collision, four women were identified as Amaravathi, 67, Parvati, 65, Janaki, 37 and Suriyakani, 65, all residents of A.P. Nananur, who were having food inside the autorickshaw, was injured.
Local residents immediately rescued the injured and sent them to hospital for treatment.
Alwarkurichi police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.
