Freedom fighters honoured and welfare assistance distributed to beneficiaries on Independence Day

The 80th Independence Day celebrations in Dindigul and Theni districts on Saturday were marked by honouring freedom fighters and distribution of welfare assistance to beneficiaries.

In Dindigul, Collector Durgamoorthi hoisted the national flag and disbursed welfare assistance to beneficiaries. She presented certificates of appreciation to a total of 282 government employees from various government departments for their meritorious service. She distributed welfare assistance to the total tune of ₹1 crore to 48 beneficiaries.

The Collector inspected the guard of honour and took the salute at the parade presented by the police, fire and rescue services personnel and home guard. She honoured freedom fighters at the event.

Students from various schools in the district presented cultural performances. The audience were captivated by their performance. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Dindigul Range) V. Sasi Mohan, Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, District Revenue Officer R. Jayabharathi and other officials were present at the event.

In Theni, Collector R. Vaithinathan hoisted the national flag and disbursed welfare assistance to beneficiaries. He presented certificates of appreciation to a total of 269 government employees from various government departments for their meritorious service. He distributed welfare assistance to the tune of ₹2.30 crore to 160 beneficiaries.
