The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) held a review meeting with the principals and representatives of 112 colleges and higher educational institutions on Thursday to discuss measures to prevent dengue and other fevers.
The meeting, chaired by Commissioner G.S. Sameeran, was held through videoconference at the Ripon Buildings. Institutions were instructed to remove unwanted materials and prevent water stagnation on campuses, particularly in containers, discarded tyres, flower pots, roof gutters, and construction areas.
They were also asked to monitor student absences, report fever cases to the Corporation immediately, and coordinate with health officials. Students with fever were advised to seek immediate medical attention, consume adequate fluids, and avoid attending classes until recovery.
