Girijan Cooperative Corporation Limited (GCC) received the SKOCH Awards 2025 in the Tribal Welfare category, in recognition of its efforts under the theme ‘Transforming Tribal Livelihoods Through Fair Markets Entrepreneurship’. Vice Chairman and Managing Director of GCC, S. S. Shobika, received the award at the ceremony held in New Delhi on Saturday.
In a release, officials said that the GCC has been actively promoting tribal livelihoods by providing fair market access to tribal farmers, strengthening processing and marketing systems, and creating employment opportunities for tribal women and youth in tribal areas. GCC ensures fair, transparent, and MSP-aligned procurement of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) to protect tribal gatherers from exploitation and to provide stable and reliable income support.
