Minister in-charge of Mysuru district Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said Gold Card holders for the Jamboo Savari procession would be provided designated seats with seat numbers, while there would be no provision for distributing complimentary Gold Cards.
A proposal to produce a documentary on the world-famous Mysuru Dasara celebrations through the National Geographic Channel was also discussed at the Dasara Executive Committee meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium here.
Dr. Yathindra, who presided over the meeting, also launched the Dasara-2026 website — mysoredasara.gov.in — and released the Yuva Sambhrama poster.
He said cultural performances during the Jamboo Savari procession should be systematic and innovative. Whenever more than one cultural troupe was selected for the same art form, the teams should conduct joint rehearsals in advance to ensure coordinated and uniform performances.
He instructed officials to make accommodation arrangements for sportspersons and wrestlers arriving from different districts. The Women’s Dasara Committee was asked to select a road with sufficient space for the rangoli competition and ensure that the rangolis were innovative and conveyed meaningful messages.
State committee on tableaux
Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Shivraj S. Thangadagi said a committee headed by the Secretary of the Kannada and Culture Department had been constituted to select the 15 best tableaux from among those representing the State’s 30 districts for participation in the Jamboo Savari.
He directed officials to allot specific time slots for tableaux and cultural troupes to perform at designated locations along the procession route to ensure that the procession moved in a disciplined manner.
Mr. Thangadagi said ambassadors from foreign countries were being invited to the Dasara celebrations and three had already given their consent to attend. He directed officials to extend the invitations as per protocol and make the necessary arrangements.
He also directed officials to prepare theme-based models for the Dasara drone show and obtain the Chief Minister’s approval before proceeding with the arrangements.
Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy said the district administration had made preparations to organise this year’s Dasara programmes in an innovative and disciplined manner. He asked officials to immediately bring any difficulties faced by the sub-committees to the administration’s notice.
Yuva Dasara
Yuva Dasara Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya R. said the reception committee would prepare invitation cards in new colour schemes and invite dignitaries. Arrangements were also being made for accommodation at hotels, hostels and dormitories.
Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar said adequate security arrangements would be made during Dasara. The Torchlight Parade would be organised along the lines of last year.
Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi said Yuva Dasara would be held from October 13 to 17 and renowned film choreographer Prabhudeva would inaugurate the event. Prominent artists would perform during the five-day programme.
Raitha Dasara
Raitha Dasara Joint Director of Agriculture K.H. Ravi said Raitha Dasara would be held at J.K. Grounds from October 16 to 18. It would include a milking competition, felicitation of 10 farmers and stalls providing useful information to farmers.
MCC Deputy Commissioner Veena said the Food Mela would be organised at Maharaja’s College Grounds. Registration had been completed for 120 stalls covering 16 varieties of food, and vendors would be selected through a lottery.
