Godavari Golden Eagles registered a 27-run win against Vizag Firebirds in their Women’s Andhra Premier League clash at the ACA International Stadium in Mangalagiri. With the win, the Golden Eagles booked their place in Sunday’s final.
Opting to bat, Golden Eagles were going at a steady rate before K. Pushpitha (91 n.o., 56b, 10×4, 4×6) brought out the fireworks – with P. Sarayu on the receiving end in the 17th over, conceding 22 runs that included two maximums over wide long-on and long-off. She and skipper Henrietta Flavia Pereira combined to add 100 runs in the second half of the innings, to take the game away from Firebirds.
Firebirds’ chase never took off, with Golden Eagles making inroads at regular intervals. They eventually succumbed to their fourth loss of the campaign and will finish the season rock bottom.
Later, Rayalaseema Xen Stars defeated Amaravathi e-Champions by 32 runs to seal its spot in the title clash. E. Padmaja’s unbeaten half-century (61 n.o., 29b, 9×4, 1×6) helped Xen Stars set a 173-run target. e-Champions looked in control of the chase thanks to Deeksha Katragadda and K. Devika. However, once they fell, Xen Stars put in the squeeze and completed the win.
