The Telangana government urged all stakeholder departments to expedite the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to facilitate the timely clearance of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project by the Centre.

Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), Jayesh Ranjan, emphasized that these approvals are critical for securing the necessary permissions from the Centre and ensuring that the project progresses without delay. He made the remarks during a meeting held at the Secretariat with representatives of various State and Central departments that have existing, ongoing or proposed works within the influence area of the seven Phase-II corridors.

The meeting was convened as part of the process of obtaining clearance for the project from the Network Planning Group under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). Hyderabad Metro Rail and HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad reiterated the urgent need for the metro’s expansion in Hyderabad and requested all concerned departments to issue the NOCs at the earliest.

During the deliberations, officials presented alignment details of the proposed seven corridors spanning 122.9 km, along with information on existing and upcoming projects of various departments within the influence area. Key issues discussed included permissions related to the sharing of Right of Way with national highways; clearances from the Defence Ministry; coordination with municipal corporations in the capital region, including GHMC, CMC and MMC; railway crossings; crossings over water bodies, including the Musi River at Nagole; gas pipelines; and construction within the airport boundary.

HMR Joint Managing Director Shivendra Pratap, Commissioners of GHMC and CMC, and senior officials from South Central Railway, Defence, NHAI, Civil Aviation, GAIL, DoT, TGSPDCL, TGIIC, HMDA, HUMTA, Irrigation, R&B, IOCL, HPCL and Reliance participated in the meeting, according to a press release.
