The court was hearing a petition filed by Lingammal, an Indian citizen born at Ammaiyarpatti in Vembakottai taluk in Virudhunagar district and married to Naleem, a Sri Lankan refugee.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the Central government to consider an application made by a woman from Virudhunagar district seeking a direction to the authorities concerned to grant citizenship to her minor sons as per Section 5(4) of the Citizenship Act.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Lingammal. She said she is an Indian citizen born at Ammaiyarpatti in Vembakottai taluk in Virudhunagar district and married to Naleem, a Sri Lankan refugee. The couple have two sons who were born in India.
