Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare K.G. Arunraj was briefly stuck in a lift at the Erode Collectorate on Monday (September 21).
Mr. Arunraj, accompanied by District Revenue Officer S. Santhakumar and security personnel, was on his way to attend a video conference with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The conference was scheduled to be held on the first floor of the old Collectorate building.
As a number of people had gathered near the lift in the old building, the Minister was taken to the new Collectorate building. Mr. Arunraj, Mr. Santhakumar and the security personnel entered the lift to reach the second floor and then take the staircase to the conference hall.
However, the lift did not stop at the second floor and instead went up to the seventh floor, where the doors did not open. The lift subsequently came down to the sixth floor, where the doors opened after about 5-10 minutes.
The Minister and others got out of the lift and proceeded to the conference hall, where Mr. Arunraj participated in the video conference with the Chief Minister.
