A history sheeter from Putheri was awarded 25 years imprisonment in a case registered at Vadasery police station in 2022 for attacking a woman while attempting to sexually assault her.
A 51-year-old woman was attacked by S. Santhosh Kumar, 28, who had been hiding inside her house. When he attempted to sexually assault her and the woman resisted, the accused assaulted her with a sickle, causing injuries in head and forehead.
Based on the incident, a case was registered at Vadasery police station.
The trial of the case was conducted at the Nagercoil Mahila Court. Upon conclusion of the trial, K. Dhanasekaran, Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, convicted the accused and sentenced him to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹6,000.
