Hoax bomb threat to Nampally Criminal Court triggers security checks

A bomb threat email sent to the Nampally Criminal Court complex on Thursday (December 18, 2025) triggered a full-scale security drill, prompting extensive anti-sabotage checks before it was declared a hoax.

According to Nampally Inspector K. Narayana Reddy, the email was received at around 10.30 a.m., following which local police, along with the Hyderabad police’s bomb detection and disposal squad, immediately swung into action. Security teams conducted a thorough search of the court premises, which continued until about 2 p.m., after which the threat was ruled out. The inspector said the email was non-specific, merely claiming that an explosive had been planted inside the court complex and warning that it could detonate at any time.

A case has been registered in connection with the hoax threat, and police said efforts are underway to trace the sender.
