Telangana Rakshana Sena chief K. Kavitha declared that she was neither the ‘arrow’ of the BRS nor the BJP, as alleged by her political opponents, but “the arrow of Bahujans and the war cry of the youth”.
Addressing a Paanchajanya Sankalpa Sabha at Kosgi in the Kodangal Assembly constituency on Sunday, she said, “I am an Ambedkarite and carry forward the self-respect ideology of Phule. I am a woman who stands firm with the ideals of Savitribai Phule and challenges the male-dominated political establishment.”
Recalling her political journey, Ms. Kavitha said that she had visited Kosgi in 2009 along with then TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and A. Revanth Reddy. “Both of them are now Chief Ministers. With the blessings of the people of Kosgi and Kodangal, I am confident that I too will lead this State one day,” she said.
Taking aim at the Chief Minister, she said that he was behaving arrogant after being powerful. “The Chief Minister too will face defeat like several others with similar thought process,” she said.
Questioning the need for another political party when the Congress, BJP and BRS were already present, she asked whether the lives of ordinary people had changed with those parties. She said unemployment among youth and the economic difficulties faced by families remained unresolved.
Ms. Kavitha promised that if her party came to power, it would lift 3 tmc of water a day from the Jurala project and provide irrigation to 10 lakh acres between Palamuru-Rangareddy and Ibrahimpatnam. “I will ensure water reaches 10 lakh acres from Jurala,” she said.
